Get Your Vitamin D from the Sun
Rodd Stockwell, MD
Vitamin D is important for mineral absorption and healthy immune function. It has many anti-cancer properties.
We can all get ample vitamin D from the sun. How much exposure is needed depends on an individual's skin type. Times vary from twenty minutes for lighter tones to three hours for darker tones. Once there has been enough exposure to the sun, more time will not increase the benefits.
During winter months, vitamin D must come from the diet. Good sources are egg yolks, cod liver oil, and cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel, and herring.
