What Makes You Smile?
Rodd Stockwell, MD
I saw a woman in my practice today. When we met 3 months ago she was depressed. She had been taking Prozac for 5 months. She had the sense that there was another way for her, but she felt so alone and anxious and numb that she had inwardly given up. Her fiancee dragged her to the first appointment with me. I don't think she had much hope that a visit with me would help her.
Today, four visits later, she is off Prozac and has found her joy. She has an inner connection to something greater, which gives meaning to her days. I knew that she was changed when I met her in the waiting room of my office and she smiled. I hadn't seen her smile even once before--she felt so burdened by life. Now, with her inner clarity in place, she could find her way easily. She hopes to help others do the same in the future.
People with depression and anxiety often come to me for help getting off their prescription medications. With the right help this is usually accomplished easily.
