Don’t My Foods Contain Vitamins?
Rodd Stockwell, MD
American foods are tested yearly by the USDA for their vitamin and mineral content. Since 1950, this content has been steadily decreasing. This is largely due to conventional farming practices and long-distance transportation.
For higher vitamin and mineral content buy fresh fruits and vegetables from your local farms. If you can't do this, then buy organic. Of course, the best is a farm that is both local and organic! By the way, food with higher vitamin and mineral content always tastes better, too.
